2026 schedules checked October 24, 2026. All times are local Central Time.
In Destin, choosing the right Halloween weekend matters almost as much as choosing the costume. The early-season HarborWalk and Gulfarium celebrations are dated October 24–25; Destin Commons follows on October 30, and Baytowne’s trick-or-treating fills Halloween night itself. Match the event to the weekend you can actually visit.
The good news: you can build a beach break around the final Halloween weekend. Spend the daylight hours on the sand, leave time for a proper meal and a costume change, and give the evening to one celebration. You do not need to turn every day into a candy marathon.
Choose your Halloween dates before choosing your events
For Halloween weekend, plan around October 30–November 1. Destin Commons has Friday-night festivities, Baytowne has a Friday movie and Saturday trick-or-treating, and Seaside offers an alternative Halloween-night outing farther east on 30A.
The October 24–26 stretch has HarborWalk’s Spooktacular, GulfScarium and the City of Destin Fall Festival. If you are planning after that weekend, use those as a look at this year’s early season and build your remaining outing around October 30–31.
Once you know which celebrations fit, check live condo availability using your arrival date, departure date and full guest count. The search shows current availability and complete prices for our Pelican Beach Resort condos, so you can compare the stay that works for you.

These places are not interchangeable map pins. Gulfarium is west of Destin on Okaloosa Island. Baytowne sits inside Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort in Miramar Beach, east of Destin. Seaside is farther east along 30A. Choose Seaside as a separate outing, especially because its Halloween hours overlap with Baytowne's.
For GulfScarium, follow the organizer's instructions for the costumed-child offer: it specifically says not to purchase an online ticket for a qualifying child. Check adult ticket prices through the venue rather than assuming the whole family enters free.
Where should visitors go trick-or-treating in Destin?
Organized events make the planning easier when you do not know the neighborhoods. For trick-or-treating in Destin, the confirmed choices include HarborWalk on October 24 and Destin Commons on October 30. For October 31 itself, Baytowne's merchant event is a confirmed nearby option in Miramar Beach.
Eat before you go. A 6 p.m. candy start arrives exactly when a hungry child would normally want dinner, and a bucket of miniature chocolates is a questionable substitute. Pack a candy bag, comfortable shoes, water and a light layer that works over the costume. Leave oversized props at the condo if they will spend the evening in a parent's hands.
If fireworks are too loud for your child, enjoy the earlier activities and leave before the display. Nobody needs to finish every item on the program to have had a good night.
Is the beach worthwhile around Halloween?
Yes, provided your idea of a beach trip has room for changing weather. October can still offer comfortable beach afternoons and Gulf swimming, but late-month fronts can change the air, water and wind. A sunny photograph is not a promise of swim conditions.
The Destin Chamber's October averages are about 80°F for the high and 59°F for the low. That covers the whole month, not a Halloween-night forecast; pack for the evening as well as the afternoon.
Bring swimsuits and layers. Use our Destin weather and Gulf-temperature guide for current conditions and the live beach cams to see the shoreline before packing the beach bag. Follow the posted beach flags; a calm-looking view does not override them.
The beach still earns its place on a cooler day: sandcastles, a shoreline stroll and a snack break can be plenty before an evening in costume. Leave the warmest, calmest part of the day flexible for the sand instead of committing every daylight hour to driving.
A Halloween weekend that leaves room for the beach
Friday, October 30: arrive, eat and choose one evening
Get settled and have an early dinner. Head to Destin Commons for the Halloween Bash, or choose Baytowne's outdoor Hocus Pocus screening if your group prefers a movie. Those schedules overlap; trying to do both would spend too much of the evening on the road.
If you arrive late, keep the first night easy. There is still a full Halloween day ahead. Our Destin restaurant guide can help you choose dinner without turning arrival night into another research project.
Saturday, October 31: beach morning, costume break, candy night
Start with breakfast and a beach session if conditions cooperate. Keep the afternoon quiet enough for naps, showers and the discovery that somebody packed the costume but forgot the shoes.
Eat before leaving for Baytowne. Enjoy the merchant trick-or-treating and decide in advance whether your family wants to stay for fireworks. If Seaside is your preferred outing, give it the afternoon and evening rather than attempting both destinations.
Sunday, November 1: make departure manageable
Have breakfast, pack up and leave time for the checkout requirements in your reservation. If you are staying longer, this is a good day for a flexible activity after the busiest costume night. Browse Destin activities and tours for departures that operate on your actual dates.
What if it rains, or the kids need a quieter day?
If the weather turns, check AMC Destin Commons 14 for a film and showtime that suit the children. It gives you an indoor option in the same shopping district as Friday's Halloween Bash. For other ideas, use our Destin with Kids guide, then check the individual business's hours.
Baytowne's movie is outdoors, and Gulfarium is an open-air attraction; neither is a dependable all-rain-day substitute. A condo afternoon with a film and an early meal can rescue the evening without requiring another ticket.
For help fitting an activity around your dates, ask Destiny Blue, our AI concierge. For a fireworks-focused evening, our Destin fireworks guide adds viewing-location context; use the current organizer listing for the final schedule.
Why stay at Pelican Beach Resort for Halloween?
The useful part of a Gulf-front stay happens between the events. You can take the children to the sand, return for lunch, wash off the salt and change into costumes without making the beach another car journey.
Our Unit 707 is a seventh-floor condo with classic coastal style. Unit 1006 offers a fresh coastal interior and a tenth-floor Gulf view. Both are in Pelican Beach Resort's main Gulf-front building, with a private balcony and direct beach access without crossing a road.
Each accommodates up to six guests in a one-bedroom, two-bath layout with a king bed, hallway bunks and a queen sleeper sofa. The full kitchen makes the pre-party dinner easier; two bathrooms help when everybody needs to get ready at once. Review the sleeping layout for your group, since the bunks and sofa are shared-space sleeping options.
The resort also has an indoor/outdoor pool option for days when the Gulf is not appealing. Check current pool operations for your stay. HarborWalk, Baytowne and Seaside still require separate outings; the reason to stay here is having the beach outside throughout the trip.
Choose the Halloween weekend that suits your family, then enter your dates to see current availability and the complete stay price. Leave yourselves a beach morning between the celebrations—you came to Destin, after all.
Halloween in Destin FAQ
Are Destin Halloween events all on October 31?
No. The 2026 program spans different dates. HarborWalk's celebration is October 24, the city festival is October 26 and Destin Commons is October 30. Match the event to your arrival and departure dates.
Where can we take children on Halloween night?
Baytowne's Trick or Treat Street in Miramar Beach is a confirmed October 31 option. Seaside also has a Halloween event on 30A. Pick one area so you can enjoy the evening without chasing overlapping schedules.
Can we swim in Destin in late October?
Sometimes, depending on water temperature, weather, beach flags and your family's comfort. Pack for both swimming and cooler evenings, and treat sand play or a beach walk as worthwhile plans of their own.
Do we need a car for the Halloween events?
Plan on driving or arranging a ride between Pelican Beach Resort and the event areas. HarborWalk, Destin Commons, Baytowne and Seaside are separate destinations; do your walking once you have arrived and parked.
Are the events free?
Some are: Baytowne lists its movie and Trick or Treat Street as free. The city festival requests a food donation and sells activity tickets. GulfScarium's free-child offer has age, costume and paying-adult conditions. An unlisted price elsewhere should not be read as a promise of free admission.
Do we need to stay at Sandestin to visit Baytowne?
No. Baytowne's FAQ confirms that the village is open to the public and public parking is free. You can stay in Destin and drive over for the evening. Allow time to park and walk to the festivities.
