Destin Seafood Festival: September 25–27
The Destin Seafood Festival is the strongest remaining food-and-harbor weekend of 2026. The official schedule lists Friday 4–10 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m.–10 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m.–6 p.m. General admission is free; paid VIP and Local Seafood Experience options are separate.
Expect parking and Highway 98 traffic to take longer than a normal fall weekend. Stay flexible, arrive early and avoid stacking a rigid dinner reservation immediately after the festival. Review the Destin restaurant guide for a backup meal away from the busiest harbor blocks.
Destin Fishing Rodeo: all of October
The Rodeo is not a single weekend. It runs October 1–31, with daily weigh-ins behind AJ's Seafood & Oyster Bar from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Watching the weigh-ins is free and gives non-anglers an easy way to experience a genuine Destin tradition.
Related dates include the September 29 kickoff, October 4 Rodeo 5K, October 31 Halloween on the Harbor and November 5 awards. The organizer's calendar controls the final details.
Build an event weekend that still feels like a vacation
- Choose one anchor: festival, Rodeo weigh-in or holiday event—not three fixed commitments in one day.
- Check conditions: use the Destin weather and Gulf guide before scheduling beach or boat time.
- Protect the evening: confirm parking, venue rules and the official schedule before driving.
- Keep a backup: browse current Destin live music or create a day-by-day itinerary.
Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's planning
Thanksgiving falls on November 26. Verified City of Destin dates include the Pinfish Classic on November 7, Holiday Craft Show November 13–14, holiday baking programs November 24–25, Christmas Tree Lighting December 3, Christmas Parade December 12 and Holly Jolly Holiday Market December 13. The Destin Harbor Lighted Boat Parade is listed for December 13 at 6 p.m.; confirm the final schedule with the event organizer before leaving.
For New Year's Eve, expect separate programs at HarborWalk, Baytowne Wharf and Okaloosa Island. The Okaloosa Island Boardwalk lists an 8 p.m. fireworks show; confirm the live venue schedule before choosing dinner or transportation.
January through March 2027
Winter is quieter and popular with longer-stay visitors. Annual regional traditions commonly include the January Pelican Plunge, February Mardi Gras and Shrimp & Grits events, and a March Mac & Cheese Festival. The 2027 dates were not yet published when this guide was verified, so we will update them rather than guess. See the Destin snowbird guide when planning a longer winter stay.
